And so it begins... I already have a blog about reading, so I figured I may as well write another blog about one of my other favorite pastimes. Can you guess what it is? (Rhetorical question of the century) Why, knitting, of course! I've only been knitting sporadically for a few years now, but a recent dilemma has brought this blog into play.
I picked up a new pattern just yesterday, and settled in on the couch with a fresh skein of yarn. I have my needles, my yarn, and a half dozen scarves under my belt. I've decided I would like to make a hat (a fisherman's skull cap, to be specific) for my boyfriend. This should be easy. Should being the operative word.
Anyway, the pattern called for knitting and purling for the first row. Not a problem. I knit two stitches (I have plenty of experience with knitting over and over again. Half a dozen scarves, remember?). But then comes that dreaded P-word. And it dawns on me. I have knitted scarf after scarf for family and friends. But I have yet to purl.
This may seem silly, but I have never been required to purl. Therefore, this giant chink in my armor has inspired me to start this blog. I will slowly and steadily walk through all of these basic knitting techniques, and update with pictures of my projects and progress (or lack thereof). This will be quite an adventure.
I would love input and advice from experienced knitters. I will hopefully soak it up like a sponge.
